This Sanctuary is situated approximately 300 kms from Bangalore in Haveri district. It is 8 kms away from Ranebennur town.
Ranebennur Blackbuck sanctuary was declared a wildlife sanctuary on the 17th of june 1974.It was created to protect the majestic blackbuck. Spread over the sprawling area of 119 square km,it is divided into three blocks viz; Hulathi,hunasikatti and alageri for administrative purposes.it has a core area of 14.9 kms and a buffer zone of 104.13 km where in the tourists are allowed. The vegetation here comprises mainly of scrub forests and extensive eucalyptus plantations.

We are unfortunate that we didn't get a single blackbuck surrounding. We are planning to visit again soon with all the required food, water and other stuffs to take pic.
